Prelude – Music Classes for Children 0 to 6 years
Prelude provides music and movement classes for children from birth through kindergarten who are accompanied by their parents or caregivers. Classes are held on weekday mornings, afternoons and on Saturdays.
Children and their parents experience live classical instrument demonstrations presented by world-class musicians. Families are encouraged to attend class together, so siblings can learn music and movement activities to enjoy at home.
Classes use the Music Together® curriculum, a research based music and movement program. This curriculum develops a child’s basic music competence by encouraging interactive music experiences rather than learning information about music. Up to 12 children and their caregivers meet for 45 minutes each week for 8 weeks to experience new songs, chants, movement activities and play instruments that are developmentally age appropriate. Both adults and children participate. Every family receives two CDs of the music, a song book and parent education materials. Each semester, an evening of parent education is offered to those enrolled in the program
